About

Nottinghack is a Nottingham based group for hackers, makers and crafty creatives!

Hacking should not be confused with network hacking, identity theft and computer virus propagation, etc. Nottinghack does not condone anything illegal; hardware Hacking is a creative, educational hobby!

Who's it for?

If you like to build, make & learn it’s for you. You’ll probably be interested in learning about and sharing knowledge of electronics, crafts, robotics, DIY, laser cutting, CNC, 3D Printing, hardware hacking, photography, computing, reverse engineering, prototyping, film making, animation, building RC vehicles or robots and other creative challenges and projects.

You’ll be looking for a group who can share tools, techniques and time; pool resources for bigger projects, get funding, discounts on kits and components and start classes and workshops, all in a safe friendly environment! The hackspace is as much about community as is it making things.

How is the hackspace structured?

We are completely member owned and run. Everything that happens in the hackspace is thanks to a volunteer giving up their time to improve the space. The hackspace is structured into teams by area of the space, and interest. For example, the volunteers who run tours on Wednesday evening and respond to your emails are part of the Membership Team. The laser cutter is maintained by the Laser Team. If you want join a team, get in touch with them by Discord or Email and offer your help.

Each year we nominate and elect 2 or 3 new trustees. Each term is two years before requiring re-election. We have a wiki page listing current and past trustees.

Where is it?

Our space is in Roden House, at the junction of Alfred Street South and Ashley Street, a few minutes walk from the National Ice Centre. We have WiFi and plenty of space (4300 square feet of it!), with areas for you to work on your projects, chat and have a coffee as well as kitchen and bathroom.

What tools do you have?

Too many to list! But here are some of our bigger tools by area:
